What we believe
These foundational evangelical beliefs guide our teaching, discipleship, ministry partnerships and service.
Bible-centred conviction
Berean Bible Study Ministries is a non-denominational evangelical ministry. We gladly cooperate with Bible-believing churches and Christian organisations that share the essential truths of the historic Christian faith.
Our beliefs are always tested by Scripture, following the Berean example of receiving the message eagerly and examining the Scriptures carefully.
Foundational beliefs
Each statement below is accompanied by selected Bible references for further study.
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God. It is entirely trustworthy and is the final authority for Christian faith, teaching and conduct.
2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; Psalm 119:105We believe in one eternal, holy and sovereign God, Creator and Sustainer of all things. He exists eternally in three persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—one God in nature, glory and purpose.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived without sin, performed mighty works and perfectly revealed the Father.
John 1:1, 14; Matthew 1:18–23; Hebrews 4:15We believe Jesus willingly died on the cross as the perfect and sufficient sacrifice for our sins. He was buried, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven and now reigns as Lord and intercedes for His people.
1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Romans 3:23–26; Hebrews 7:25We believe every person is created in the image of God and therefore has God-given dignity. Through human rebellion, sin entered the world, leaving all people separated from God and unable to save themselves.
Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12We believe salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ—not earned by human effort or religious works. Those who trust in Christ are forgiven, declared righteous and born again into God’s family.
John 3:3, 16; Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–13We believe the Holy Spirit is fully divine. He convicts the world of sin, gives new life to believers, lives within them, assures them of salvation and empowers them for holy living, service, witness and spiritual growth.
John 16:7–14; Romans 8:9–16; Galatians 5:22–25We believe the universal Church is the body of Christ, made up of all true believers. Local churches gather for worship, biblical teaching, prayer, fellowship, the Lord’s Supper, baptism, mutual care and mission.
Acts 2:42–47; 1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Ephesians 4:11–16We believe Jesus commanded believers to be baptised as a public testimony of faith and instructed the Church to observe the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of His sacrificial death until He returns.
Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38–41; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26We believe followers of Jesus are called to love God and neighbour, obey Scripture, pursue holiness, practise justice and mercy, serve others and grow as faithful disciples through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 22:37–40; Romans 12:1–2; James 1:22; Micah 6:8We believe every Christian and local church is called to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples of all nations and teach believers to obey everything Christ commanded.
Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:13–15We believe Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly. God will raise the dead and judge all people with perfect justice. Those who belong to Christ will enjoy eternal life with God, while those who reject Him face eternal separation from Him.
